Aerial is Spraying For Zika Over The City

The Department of Heath in New York is launching an all-out attack against mosquitoes carrying Zika Virus, amid growing concern.

While the city has assured its residents that they are in no danger of Zika Virus (so why does the video talk exclusively about Zika?) they have decided to assault the city with chemicals, explaining that local mosquitoes are spreading other diseases like the West Nile Virus.

With summer just a month away, and with mosquito season upon us, the city will begin a three day aerial bombardment of marsh and other non-residential areas at around two dozen sites in the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn.

Officials are planning to use “environmentally friendly” larvicide (yeah right- oxymoron!) to kill the infant mosquito larvae. Summer is predicted to be incredibly hot and humid this year so the mosquito population is expected to be quite large.

However, while the city and some residents feel the precautions are necessary, still others are worried and skeptical about how safe the chemicals are that will be sprayed.

Thus far, 78 cases of Zika have been reported in the city, but all patients have recovered. If the weather permits, spraying is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. Thursday.
