Plants are amazing. From cleaning our air to fighting against disease (and being delicious to eat) they are a necessary part of every environment. But did you know that they also respond to sound? They do! And, as if that wasn’t cool enough, they also produce their own sound.

While they might not create sounds like humans and animals, they do use “vibration and sound around them to communicate and to inform them about any imminent danger from nearby.”1

Don’t believe me? With a microphone and mobile phone, the woman in the video below records the vibration sound emitting from the sunflowers. The sound it beautiful and haunting.
