Utah police officer who dragged screaming nurse is fired
On Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that Utah police officer, Detective Jeff Payne, who was filmed forcibly arresting nurse Alex Wubbels for refusing to let officers take a blood sample from an unconscious patient, had been fired.

Apparently, police chief Mike Brown decided to fire Payne after an investigation into the incident. He was also fired from his job as a paramedic.

As you’ll remember, the nurse, Alex Wubbels, kindly told officers they would have to have a warrant, the patient’s consent, or police would need to arrest the patient, in order for her to draw blood.

Detective Payne wasn’t happy about that at all and told Wubbels he would “leave with blood in vials or body in tow” 1 before placing her in handcuffs and dragging her out of the hospital.

After the footage appeared and went viral, the hospital banned law enforcement from interacting directly with nurses. The Salt Lake City mayor and police chief also apologized.
