According to a study on Wednesday by the French environment agency ANSES, a variety of toxic substances- including the weed-killer glyphosate– has been found in babies’ diapers in France. Bayer/Monsanto keep taking the hits. (We cannot wait to watch them finally crumble!)

“The study said research had found substances including butylphenyl methylpropional used in beauty products and certain aromatic hydrocarbons as well as glyphosate. All of them pose potential risks.

The French government said manufacturers and retailers should ensure that the substances are removed from diapers.”1

French Health Minister Agnes Buzyn, Environment Minister Francois de Rugy, and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire issued a joint statement calling on manufacturers and retailers to take measures within the next 15 days, to eliminate those toxic chemicals from babies’ diapers and make them as safe as possible. Buzyn added that she does not believe there is “immediate, serious risk to the health of children”2 but rather that it is important to take precautions. But the truth is, we don’t know what it means having that chemical that close to children, in that context.

Glyphosate is set to be phased out in France within three years but farmers are exempt from the ban “where there is no credible alternative to the pesticide.”3 That makes what John Salley and the plant-based pesticide company, PureCrop1 are doing, all the more important!
