Saltwater Brewery, in Delray Beach, Florida decided a couple of years ago that they didn’t want their six-pack rings to kill any more marine animals. But instead of just talking about it, they actually did something; made of wheat and barley the rings either biodegrade or serve as a hearty treat for wildlife!

RELATED STORY:

The rings are the first of their kind.

Peter Agardy, head of the brand at the brewery, said, “It’s a big investment for a small brewery created by fisherman, surfers, and people that love the sea.”1 And Chris Gove, president of Delray echoed that sentiment saying, “We hope to influence the big guys and hopefully inspire them to get on board.”2

RELATED STORY:

According to the brewery, the degradable ribbons are as resistant and efficient as plastic. The cost might seem a bit prohibitive right now but as more companies sign on, the prices will drop.

RELATED STORY:

We love companies who think long-term and realize that without an intact environment, no amount of money will do anyone any good.

If you’ve ever bought this beer and have seen these rings, drop us a comment and let us know!
