The Little A’le’ Inn motel is a peculiar alien-themed motel located on a Nevada highway not far from the secret Area 51 site. At first, owner Connie West didn’t take the “storm Area 51” prank very seriously.

But then her phone started ringing, and it hasn’t stopped.

West’s 10-room motel is one of few businesses located in a town called Rachel, on the desolate highway nicknamed the Extraterrestrial Highway. The town boasts just 54 residents, and is now gaining celebrity status among aviation and UFO enthusiasts who have been drawn to the posting on Facebook about the September 20 event called “storm Area 51.”

RELATED STORY:

Over 2 million people have RSVP’d to attend the event posted on the internet. The event calls for people to “Naruto run” at 3 am into the remote US Air Force test area dubbed Area 51. The mysterious Nevada desert compound has long been the focus of UFO conspiracy theories.

“Naruto” is an anime series that features a face-forward, arms-back running style. The post jokes:

They can’t stop all of us. Lets see them aliens.”1

The military has issued a stern warning, telling people not to try to enter the once top-secret Cold War site. The area is posted and patrolled as part of the vast Nevada Test and Training Range.

In 2013 the CIA declassified documents related to the 8,000-square mile base by name and indicating its position on a map near the Dry Groom Lake bed. It was a big deal because for decades they had refused to acknowledge that Area 51 even existed. The base has been a testing ground for top-secret aircraft including the U-2 spy plane in the 1950s and later the B-2 stealth bomber.

The Air Force said in a statement released by Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas:

“Any attempt to illegally access the area is highly discouraged.”1

West is suspicious about what might happen if big crowds touch down in their small town. She said:

“It’s a little scary to think that many people could descend on a town of 54. How can you prepare?”1

Sheriff Kerry Lee of Lincoln County said he doesn’t expect many people actually to show up for the event. County spokesman Ben Rowley counted just 184 hotel rooms in the entire county. Lee said a sudden influx of 500 to 1,000 visitors could cause traffic congestion and parking problems. The county has just 26 sworn sheriff’s deputies and around 5,200 permanent residents. The sheriff added:

“I think this started out as a joke but there may be enough people taking it seriously and it could be a problem. Someone is going to get hurt and people may go to jail. It’s not anything to joke about.”1

I don’t know about you, but I would sure like to see aliens if they are indeed hanging out at Area 51. 🙂
