The incredibly sad footage below shot at Manta Point, just came out this week and highlights the very real fact that we are destroying the ocean.
Diver Rich Horner captured video of himself swimming through water saturated with plastic waste.
However, while humans are the ones destroying the ocean, it is the animals who live there that are paying the heaviest price; Manta Point is a cleaning station for the large rays on the island of Nusa Penida, about 20km from the popular Indonesian holiday island of Bali. And in one day, manta rays and whales can ingest 40-90 pieces of plastic- PER HOUR.
We’ve got to stop mindlessly using and throwing plastic into landfills. Now. It’s already almost too late.
