Roseanne Barr opens “Roseanne’s Joint”

Roseanne Barr, actress and comedian, has recently become an investor in a marijuana dispensary in Santa Ana. Really.

Called, “Roseanne’s Joint”, the shop will sell marijuana products that bear its name, including pot-laced, chocolate-covered macadamia nuts (grown on her farm). The shop, located at 1327 E. St. Gertrude Place, promises to be a high-end experience…think open concept and rustic wood floors. And she plans to make appearances.

From the article:

“I’m proud to be a cultural pioneer at the forefront of another wave of progress! And we’re proud of the city of Santa Ana as we continue to move into the era of recognizing cannabis as the natural, therapeutic, herbal substance medical science has proven it to be,” Barr said in a statement. “Roseanne’s Joint will be a responsible, contributing member of, and addition to, the community.”

She’s in good company too, Cypress Hill rapper B-Real was the first celebrity to win a license in Santa Ana and recently, Woody Harrelson, applied to open a marijuana dispensary in Hawaii. Her business partner, Aaron Herzberg, believes their partnership, “will bring credibility and a good name and frankly, good values. But we also hope that it will create within the community a sense that marijuana is here to stay in California, that it’s getting legitimized and that serious names are coming to the table.” The dispensary could open as soon as the end of April or beginning of May.

Apparently, Barr has been consuming medical marijuana to fight glaucoma and macular degeneration, both of which are causing her to slowly lose her eyesight. So, not only has she always been a vocal supporter of the right to smoke, but now she’s got skin in the game. Her partner was quoted as saying, “She’s very spiritual, she’s very holistic, she’s extremely into natural remedies, and I can tell you that she believes very strongly that marijuana is medicine. And she wants us to educate patients in a way that I don’t think many other dispensaries are doing and make it a safe and comfortable environment.”

This is only the beginning, too. They aren’t leaving out the possibility of more shops or Barr selling products at other pot shops. Medical marijuana isn’t the enemy and has proven to help many. Even better still is hemp oil, now we just need for THAT to be legal too.
