Overwhelming Majority Of Germans Contaminated By Glyphosate

Glyphosate is able to enter the body via food or drinking water and a new study is showing that the majority of Germans have been contaminated by the compound.

Three-quarters of the German population have been contaminated by the deadly herbicide, according to a new study by the Heinrich Böll Foundation. The report(the largest of its kind ever carried out) looked at glyphosate residue in urine and found that, “…75% of the target group displayed levels that were five times higher than the legal limit of drinking water. A third of the population even showed levels that were between ten and 42 times higher than what is normally permissible,” according to the EurActive article.

Of the 2,009 people in the study, glyphosate residue was found in 99.6% of them. For children aged 0-19, their values were higher, especially those raised on farms. Also of note, those who ate meat had much higher levels than vegetarians or vegans. This proves that additional studies need to be carried out and, according to Harald Ebner(a genetic engineer) “… no new authorizations for 2031 should be issued”. The European Commission had recently called for it to be renewed until 2031.

While the Federal Institute of Risk Assessment sees no health risk in the study’s findings, admitting that glyphosate residue in low concentrations should be expected, they maintain that as the compound is quickly excreted in the urine, it poses no risk. No risk?

I hope the majority of German people take issue with that mentality. It’s time, once and for all, to stop using glyphosate.
