Nutrigenomics: Harnessing the power of food to change your genes

Nutrigenomics: Harnessing the power of food to change your genes

One of the things we talk about a lot on Health Nut News is making good nutritional choices. We discuss that topic often because nutrition plays such a big part of your overall health. Food is medicine.

This means that healthy nutrition is an important tool in the fight against the effects of stress and environment: disease (including obesity, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, etc).

RELATED STORY:

The food we eat interacts with our genes and doctors are beginning to study this interaction, known as “nutrigenomics,” more than they ever have.

“The ability to use nutrition to affect our genes means that we’re no longer at the mercy of our DNA. This is especially exciting when it comes to fighting and preventing disease.

If… inherited diseases, run in your family, you’re not doomed to suffer. The fate of your health is not set in stone. If your mother is a diabetic, it’s not a given that you’ll eventually become a diabetic.”1

Can you imagine how your life could look if you were to make this big change? Imagine feeling less anxious about the future because you know you’re stepping up and taking the steps that will improve your chances at a longer and healthier life!

RELATED STORY:

While making the commitment to feed your body good, whole nutrition every day might seem a bit daunting, you can do it. And this community here would love to be your support system. We have tons and tons of good recipes available and add more every week. And, I’d never dream of asking you to do something that I didn’t do first! I changed my diet and life a couple of years ago and never looked back. Check out my story here.

You can do it. You are not along. Food IS medicine.

XO- Erin
