Whether guided by the current pandemic or something else, an aerial skywriter has a message for Kentuckians, recently spelling out “OBEY” in the skies above Lexington, Frankfort and the surrounding region.

The message, written multiple times, appeared mere days after Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear implemented a statewide mandate ordering Kentuckians to wear masks in almost all indoor and some outdoor public places. The message prompting many to speculate it was backlash against the order.

RELATED STORY:

The display conjured images of the 1980’s dystopian action film “They Live.” The movie depicts a totalitarian society that subliminally instructs the unsuspecting population to “obey” and “consume.”

RELATED STORY:

The person who commissioned the plane to write the message remains a mystery, but local media LEX 18 tracked down the plane’s owner, who said he would not disclose the client, or the project’s cost. He also said he knew nothing about what prompted the message.
