Now that we are firmly in the middle of winter, and in some places it’s very snowy and cold, I thought exploring the topic of “hygge” might be fun. Check out the video and then my thoughts below…
While I think it’s possible that some people might freak out about the comment that Denmark is like the United States had Bernie Sanders become president (because he believes in universal healthcare and socialism), I understand what the man is saying. And I’ve always been very open-minded but I think that it’s likely only smaller countries like Denmark where that kind of thing works best. I think it can be very very effective and I think that the Danish people are really happy. I just don’t know that it would work in the United States. We are just so darn big.
And I think I grew up with this idealistic thinking, “Maybe socialism could work here.” But no. It couldn’t. Plus, I think their government is more trustworthy than ours. I really do. I don’t trust our government.
However, I do love the trend with healthy, organic food. Now that’s something I can get behind!
