Doctor Gets Ebola
A doctor who was in Africa treating Ebola patients came back and tested positive for Ebola. Sadly he didn’t go into any quarantine when he returned and apparently went bowling, took the subway around NYC and might have been out to dinner (oh and some reports say he even treated patients after he returned from the Ebola epicenter of the world.
From the article about Doctors Without Borders Doc with Ebola
The doctor, identified as Craig Spencer, 33, came back from treating Ebola patients in Guinea October 17 and developed a fever, nausea, pain and fatigue Thursday. He is in isolation and being treated at New York’s Bellevue Hospital, one of the eight hospitals statewide that Gov. Andrew Cuomo designated earlier this month as part of an Ebola preparedness plan.
Spencer, who is hospitalized in intensive care, went for a jog, may have gone to a restaurant, traveled the city’s vast subway system and went bowling before feeling ill, but authorities stressed that the likelihood of him spreading the virus was low.
When we saw experts talking live on the news today saying that it appears Ebola is under control and the two nurses are miraculously fine now (who both had Ebola just days ago) I figured it was too good to be true. And it was. We hope this doctor will recover, did not infect other people and other doctors who risk their lives (and others) by going to West Africa to help others will think twice before coming back and exposing hundreds (if not MORE) to this deadly virus.
Oh and for those who think Ebola is a hoax? I’ve posted stories that show that viewpoint. I definitely share all different kind of stories on Health Nut News. This one is a breaking story that says another doctor has Ebola- hence the quick write up. Don’t be scared, but be prepared!
