More and more I’m starting to see life imitate art. Have any of you ever seen the campy Syfy hit, “Haven”? Really odd things happen all the time in Haven and in order to keep the peace (and keep people oblivious), the police hand out press releases explaining the crazy phenomenon people have experienced as “gas leaks” or “outlying earthquakes.” It doesn’t really matter what they say because they never tell the truth. Does anyone get where I’m going with this?

On Sunday afternoon about 150 people on the UK’s East Sussex coastline had to be treated at the hospital (they have since been released) for what police have called, “a chemical incident.” Those exposed to the cloud reportedly suffered from eye and throat irritations.

The Sussex Police said,
“The effects, while uncomfortable, were not serious, and an investigation is now under way by a number of agencies working in partnership to establish the source of the gas. If you feel any effects, such as stinging eyes, the South-East Coast Ambulance Service is advising to wash with copious amounts of water and that if you have any serious concerns then you should seek medical advice.”
Authorities still haven’t said with any kind of definity what the haze, which started coming off the sea around 5 p.m. local time, was or where it was from. They just knew it was unlikely to have come from France and “extremely unlikely” to have been chlorine gas. The cloud has now dissipated.
