(Note from Erin: I last saw Chris in Miami in 2004 with my old friend Anne. The show was magical…heart goes out to his family and friends.)

Chris Cornell, the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, has died aged 52. The rock world is both feeling and mourning his loss this morning. While the cause of death is still undetermined, they are investigating it as a possible suicide.

Cornell was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and one of the “chief architects of the grunge movement, forming Soundgarden alongside guitarist Kim Thyail and bassist Hiro Yamamoto in 1984.”

He was in Detroit last night to perform with Soundgarden at Detroit’s Fox Theatre. You can check out the video below, sadly, his last performance.
