How Hemp Could Replace Petroleum Fuel

It was midday on February 10, 2013, and I was very smoothly cruising south out of Denver, Colorado, in a hemp-powered limo. A sleek cream-colored 1979 Mercedes 300D, in fact, purportedly originally owned by Ferdinand Marcos. “Plenty of space,” the driver told me as when I asked for the keys to the trunk before the drive. “Imelda’s shoes aren’t in there any more.” Hemp oil was the fuel, but it’s not the kind of thing that I, the pampered passenger, would notice if I weren’t a cannabis journalist. And he’s done all this because as he says, “Books open the mind”. His only demand is that you MUST...

For me, it is one of my long time childhood friends Sam. Things are never good enough for Sam and she is always the victim of something. After knowing her for about 15 years now, I’m pretty used to her negativity and I can just let it roll right off my back. But, this is only after a lot of practice....

Meditation, Yoga, Qi Qong, Tai Chi, et al, is all good…

The science: Scientists put 24 participants with no history of meditation through an eight-week course on best practices for, “mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR),” fancy science talk for meditation. The course consisted of 2.5-hour sessions each week where participants learned “body scanning, sitting meditation, walking meditation and mindful stretching movements.” The scientists also requested each participant perform at least 45 minutes of meditation each day. MRIs were performed before and after the meditation boot camp, and each participant answered a series of psychological evaluations to determine their stress and anxiety levels before and after the MBSR course as well. The...
