I have always maintained that I would grow old gracefully. To me, that just meant not going under the knife, you know, nothing drastic. I eat a healthy diet full of fruits and veggies, drink clean water, get appropriate sun, keep my weight under control, and attempt to get good sleep.

And, very recently, I’ve added this amazing new organic, CBD skin serum to my wellness plan. (You can check it out here. Honestly, it’s changed the look and feel of my skin. And other people are noticing, too!)

RELATED STORY:

So, when I saw that a couple of Hollywood celebs (Cate Blanchett and her pal Sandra Bullock, who are just two of the procedures fans) were having an expensive facial I thought I would check into it. You guys are never going to believe this…

“The Hollywood EGF Facial — a $650 treatment — involves a cleanse, chemical peel, microneedling, an “electrifying” face mask and a so-called “Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)” — a serum that happens to be derived from the foreskin of Korean newborns. The substance supposedly helps generate collagen and elastin in the skin. It’s just one of many borderline cannibalistic — and inevitably expensive — beauty products wooing the rich and vain these days.” 1

While it might sound odd, and it does, science uses loads of things we might never consider for skincare:2

  • The proteins, nutrients, and enzymes, found in an animal-derived placenta is thought to help promote skin-cell growth, as it does for babies in utero. (Alexander Wang, the designer, is a loyal fan.)
  • The “vampire facial” involves samples of your blood and a flight to Germany so Dr. Barbara Sturm can take samples of your blood and formulate them into a cream that’s said to heal skin and boost collagen. There’s also the version in the video above.
  • Thousands of years ago, urine was popular and it’s popularity continues today because the antibodies found in urine have anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties that can treat skin ailments such as rashes, burns, dry skin and acne.
  • And vitamins found in colostrum (breast milk) gel include soothing and smoothing vitamins E and C, which brighten and boost elasticity.

We women, and even some men, really will do anything to maintain our youthful look. Personally, I don’t have the time, money or inclination to head over to Germany or to New York for a foreskin facial. I’m going to stick with my CBD oil!
