Another sweet baby has died during a routine dental procedure. Araceli Avila and Jose Hernandez took their daughter Daleyza Avila-Hernandez to the Children’s Dental Surgery Center in Stockton, California on Monday morning. She was scheduled to have two molars and a tooth removed and died while under anesthesia.

It was the last time her parents would see her alive.

“All I did was I took my daughter to the dentist to fix her teeth,” Avila said in Spanish. “About 30 minutes later, they brought her (back) dead.” 1

(Children who are normally referred to a clinic like this have “extreme dental needs, or cannot sit still in a dental chair” and are given a different type of sedation than they use in a regular dental office. 2)

After the ambulance had been called, a nurse came out, pulled the parents aside, and explained that their daughter’s heart had stopped so she was on her way to the hospital- in stable condition. The nurse told them not to worry.

Her parents claim she was “100 percent healthy; when she got there, she was very happy.” 3

Our hearts go out to this poor family. Rest in peace sweet girl.
