Man Arrested Who Sprayed Poison on Whole Foods Buffets

UPDATE: Arrest made by Feds- 29 y/o admits he sprayed poison on Whole Foods buffets including TOMCAT brand mice (and rat) poison. 

We asked our readers for help in identifying the man and several in Michigan said they were calling in leads. Thankfully, less than 24 hours later an arrest was made.

We asked for your help and got several letters from readers who saw our story and shared it helping to nab this criminal! Bravo! An arrest was made!

“29 year old Kyle Bessemer was arraigned in Ann Arbor today on four counts of food poisoning, which combined could send him to prison for 70 years. Two of the counts carry a 20-year maximum prison sentence; the other two, 15. Consecutive sentencing is allowed if he is found guilty.”

The FBI has arrested Bessemer who admitted to spraying Tomcat mice (or rat) poison on food at Whole Foods and at least 3 other grocery stores. The FBI announced Tuesday the man was taken into custody with help from the Ann Arbor Police Department.

Great job Health Nuts! We’re so glad to those of you who helped nab this criminal.

We need our readers’ help!

Recently, at a Ann Arbor, Michigan, Whole Foods, a man was seen attempting to contaminate food. When employees noticed him sprinkling an unknown liquid on food carts, store management was notified and all salad and hot food bars were immediately closed down.

Whole Foods released a statement about the incident, “Out of an abundance of caution, all salad and hot food bars were immediately closed down at the store, all food was thrown out and the store team thoroughly cleaned and sanitized all food stations, equipment and serving utensils before restocking with fresh items.”

We will watch this story with great interest and update you with more information when and if it becomes available. It will be interesting to find out what the cultures that the FBI did do on the food, show.
