Truthfully, it’s an honest mistake; I cannot imagine the guilt and grief that parents feel if it happens to them and they are the ones that forget…

However, there are some steps you can take to make sure it doesn’t happen to your or your family:1

  • Leave your purse or an important item you will need in the backseat
  • Hang a mirror above your child’s backseat, allowing you to see them in your rear-view mirror.
  • Lastly, there are mobile apps you can download to help. Kars 4 Kids and Driver’s Little Helper will alert your phone once you arrive at your destination.

And remember, please call 911 immediately if you notice a child or pet, trapped in a hot car.
