I normally try to do these feel good stories on Monday- sorry I’m a day late!

Check out these amazing videos of the elephant Kham La and her best friend, the man who rescued her, Darrick Thomson (co-founder of the Save the Elephant Foundation). Thomson helped rescue Kham La and her mother Bai Teoy in 2015.

Baby elephant concerned about ‘drowning’ friend

When the sweet baby girl believes that Thomson, calling out to her on the shore from the water, is in trouble- she charges through the water, sheltering him with her body and offering her trunk for him to hold on to. Crisis averted. Cue the awwwwww’s.

From the article:
“Since he rescued Kham La, he spent time to heal her from the mental [anguish] and has shown love to her,” the staff said. “It’s not long after that, she [made a] strong bond with him, and accepted him to be part of her herd.”
Thus far, the foundation has rescued more than 70 elephants- most of them elderly or physically compromised- and they allow the elephants to roam free and form bonds among themselves.
Happy Tuesday everyone.
