TIME: The Link Between Mosquito Spraying and Autism

[…]equine encephalitis virus). They then compared those rates in 16 different zip codes where the spraying doesn’t happen. For kids living in zip codes where spraying happened each summer, there was about a 25% higher risk of an autism diagnosis or developmental problem, compared to kids who lived where no spraying was done. It seems that the way pesticides are applied might have something to do with the correlation; there are animal studies which show that pesticides can affect certain neurotransmitters in the brain, however, their exact effects on brain development are still being studied.  From the TIME article: “The study […]

Florida county nixes plans for aerial mosquito spraying after YOU spoke up! Thank you!

[…]spraying. Now let’s have other counties in Florida, TX, NY, CA and around the US that are spraying by air follow suit!   Clay County, Florida- Clay County cited the nearly 1,000 percent increase in mosquitos, since Hurricane Irma, as their reason to start aerial spraying with naled. However, thanks to all our many friends who let the county know exactly how they felt, it seems we’ve been able to get them to back down: “Based on feedback we have received from the public, Clay County will NOT move forward with using the EPA approved chemical Naled for aerial mosquito control…” The […]

GLOBAL EXPERT: Miami Beach Naled Pesticide Spraying Ineffective Against Zika Virus Carrying Mosquitos

[…]of our total community population is indoors and it is not flying around at night when the aerial spraying controls. What you see in Florida is the adaptive plan for West Nile mosquito… Aerial spraying with naled or many of the other insecticides have been proven systematically to be less effective. For aedes aegypti you need on the ground spray, houses and yards and absolutely control breeding sites by getting rid of standing water.”   Dr. Callahan, who is based at Harvard, has practiced on over 2,000 Zika patients over the years and until 2013, there was ZERO history of […]

Bill would ban late-harvest spraying of Roundup weedkiller on oats

[…]Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller, in food.”1Cur Although the bill would only ban late-harvest spraying of glyphosate on oats and require the federal government to test popular kids foods for the herbicide that’s been linked to cancer, it’s a start in the right direction. And it’s about time. Key provisions in DeLauro’s bill include:1 Prohibiting the spraying of glyphosate as a pre-harvest drying agent on oats. Lowering by 300-fold the permissible level of glyphosate residues on oats, restoring the legally allowed level to just 0.1 parts per million, or ppm. Requiring the Department of Agriculture to regularly test fruits, vegetables and other […]

U.S. Air Force Is spraying 6 Million acres with chemicals in response to Harvey

[…]910th Airlift Wing, this current effort is “expected to significantly surpass previous [spraying] missions in scope” (think Hurricanes Katrina and Rita). Once again, the government has chosen to ignore the many voices crying danger; the chemical they are going to douse Houston residents in is the Naled. (Don’t fret, the Air Force insists they won’t be using large enough amounts to cause harm to humans.) As you will remember from last year, the insecticide Naled is manufactured and sold by a strategic partner of Monsanto and banned in the EU because of the risks it poses to human health: “Naled is a known neurotoxin […]

Harvard Professor with Geoengineering startup, pushes spraying our skies & blocking out sun

[…]encompasses several approaches to addressing the climate problem, Monday’s debate focused on the spraying of sulfate aerosols high in the atmosphere, a relatively inexpensive option and the one likeliest to be deployed on a large scale. The effect would mimic the global cooling power of large volcanic eruptions, which send similar chemicals into the atmosphere. The particles reflect sunrays and have been known to cause unusually cool weather — “volcanic winters” — for months or even years afterward. The effects of those winters are potentially severe. The 1991 explosion of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines cooled global temperatures for several […]
